Redesigning a mobile app for an award-winning bank

In the summer of 2018 we were invited to pitch our vision of the future of banking to Best Bank. Going head-to-head against some of the biggest agencies nation-wide, our innovative take on fintech user-experience won over the client, securing us the opportunity to completely transform their mobile banking platform. What began as a redesign, evolved into a comprehensive reinvention of how Best Bank’s customers interact with their finances – creating an intuitive, feature-rich experience.

Our team crafted a unified user experience that seamlessly integrated all of Best Bank’s product offerings – from everyday account management to complex investment portfolios and payment solutions. By reimagining core functionalities through a customer-first lens, we introduced game-changing features like scheduled and recurring payments that adapted to users’ financial rhythms.

Anticipating the evolving banking landscape, we designed an account-switching system that elegantly supported the EU’s PSD2 directive, allowing customers to manage multiple accounts across different institutions within a single, cohesive interface. This forward-thinking approach positioned Best Bank at the forefront of open banking innovation while maintaining the simplicity their customers valued.

Every transition, loading state, and confirmation was purposefully choreographed to provide subtle feedback and guide users through their financial journey. We created multiple interactive prototypes at varying fidelity levels, allowing us to rapidly test core functionalities with users.

The project blossomed into a deep, two-year collaboration that transformed not just Best Bank’s digital presence, but also how our teams approached UX design challenges together. This resulted in our biggest UX & UI project to date, with over 2,600 screen designs and more than 454,000 layers in Figma.
